AIM sucks
I saw a spectacular moon on saturday night. minutes before it came to rest beneath the horizon it shone a deep, bright red; like the gaze of some evil creature lurking above our fair planet, or the gaze of an all-around nice greek god with pink eye. This phenomenon is rare enough that i've only seen it for the first time during the 21 years that i've been doing what i was put on this planet to do: play video games and chat on the internet.

raevyn took me to see from hell last night and it was pretty awesome. The Hughes brothers make the story of jack the ripper accessible by drawing parallels between late 1800's london and today's inner-cities, things like the ghettos, drug use and being pissed because you can't afford grapes are all things that today's audience understands and understands well. lots of gore in this one, but fortunately it is used to assist the plot rather than the other way around.

mystery is the essential element for this type of film, but i think the movie has audiences asking "who is jack the ripper?" rather than the more pertinent "why is jack the ripper?" which is unfortunate since a conspiracy is allowed to take center stage instead of the arch-villian. But the film works anyway as a great thriller, and the mystery has a pretty shocking solution. Thankfully johnny depp doesn't simply reprise his ichabad crane role from sleepy hollow; his character is unique and comes complete with filthy brit accent.

I have to go to the dentist tomorrow and hey i'm getting my braces off soon. yay! i'm trying to save money by not spending too much on food and have done well so far but may have to go on a strictly ramen diet if i want to see real significant results.
